One of America’s largest healthcare systems Dignity Health announced the results of a study showing that the use of digital technologies in healthcare improves asthma control. Propeller Platform Health Asthma uses sensors, mobile apps and analytics to monitor real-time use of short-acting beta-agonists (SABAs) and inhaled corticosteroids, and provides detailed information on drug usage patterns and alerts for patients with worsening asthma control.
More than 495 adults and children participated in the study. The results showed that the total use of SABA and the total number of days they were needed was lower in the platform group compared to patients receiving usual care. In addition, significantly better outcomes were demonstrated in adults with uncontrolled asthma in the new technology group compared to adults with uncontrolled asthma in conventional care.

Asthma kills

According to government data, a study of about 4 million people in the UK found that up to 2.7 million of them are at risk of life-threatening asthma attacks.

Asthma in the UK is a killer of three people daily. These shocking survey results reflect what we hear over and over again from people who call our hotline. Asthma and Allergy Committee spokesperson Lindsey said. McManus .
